Winter Dance Recital Recap

Last Sunday, December 6, we had our annual Winter Recital. During the two performances, Garden Street dancers performed holiday classics such as “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” and “Winter Wonderland”, and some new classics like Pentatonix’s “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies” and “Christmas in Hoboken” from Garden Street’s very own A Hoboken Tale.

During the 1pm performance we saw some of our youngest ballerinas grace the stage in their sparkling costumes. We also got to watch dancers from our Annie Mac Dance Company elegantly perform dances from The Nutcracker, and dazzle us with their lyrical rendition of “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies”, and Miss Hayley’s hip-hop classes strutted their stuff with “Sleigh Ride” and “Jingle Bell Rock”.

The 3 pm performance began with a sneak peak of Garden Street’s original musical, A Hoboken Tale. Then dancers ages 3-17 performed beautifully to holiday songs like “Jingle Bells” and “Let it Snow”, and it was a real treat to watch our Irish Step classes dance to “Cry of the Celts”. We saw some more amazing hip-hop and got to watch our tap students click across the stage. The lyrical students showed us a lovely “Mary Did You Know”, and then our acro classes tumbled in to “Run Run Rudolph”.

What an amazing atmosphere! The dancers were all smiles backstage, and parents, grandparents, friends, and neighbors came out to show their support. The holiday spirit was thick in the air as students lined up in the halls of Hoboken High School, ready for their big moment.

Thank you to all family, friends, and loved ones who attended the recital, and all of our incredible instructors. We were bursting with pride after our first performance of the year, and can’t wait for more! Happy holidays from everyone at Garden Street!
