Kate Wray
Ballet Mistress

Kate Wray (TTC Dip., ARAD, ISTD) grew up in Gloucestershire, England, and trained at the prestigious Royal Ballet School in London. Soon after she was awarded her Teachers' Training Course diploma in 1993 by Dame Ninette de Valois, founder of the Britain's Royal Ballet.
 
Along with her diploma, Ms. Wray received her teaching certifications with distinction for Cecchetti Ballet Technique, National Dance, (both awarded with distinction), the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus, Character, and Spanish Dance. She is also an ARAD-qualified instructor, and is able to enter pupils for examination for the ARAD syllabus. She was one of the first from the UK to attend the Kirov Ballet's Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in Leningrad.
 
Ms. Wray taught in Gloucester and London and was Assistant Ballet Mistress at the London Children's Ballet Company before becoming an original cast member of the Basel, Switzerland production of The Phantom of the Opera.

She worked with director Hal Prince, composer Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, and choreographer Gillian Lynne. She then joined the original production of Phantom in London.Ms. Wray then moved to New York as a cast member of Phantom on Broadway, and then went on to Dance and sing the principal role of Meg. In her 13 years of involvement with Phantom, Ms. Wray became the only person in the world to have performed in the companies of London, New York, Basel, and the National Tour.
 
Kate Wray's career as a dancer, and life experience on the stage gives her the ability to train all dancers from ages 2 through adult. She is not only an amazing dancer, but also brings joy and light to every class that she teaches.  Formerly, she taught at Hoboken Dance Academy, and is very happy to be the Ballet Mistress at the new Garden Street School of the Performing Arts. Her three year old daughter, Liliana Grace, is her pride and joy.
