Joanna Barry-Connolly was born and
raised in Dublin, Ireland, and began her lifelong career in dance at
the age of three. Trained in Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Irish Step
Dancing, she has a well rounded approach to the art of dance
performance, technique and instruction.
Joanna became a professional dancer at the age of sixteen, while
living in Ireland. It was at this age that she also began assisting
in training and teaching beginners in tap, jazz and Irish step
dancing. Her theater credits in Ireland as a dancer and assistant
choreographer include musical variety seasons in The Gaiety, The
Olympia and The Point. Joanna was lucky enough to be a part of many
Irish productions that gave her the opportunity to perform on R.T.E
(National Television Station) on numerous occasions.
After many years as a principal dancer in cabaret and musical
revues, Joanna toured the U.S.A for the first time with the famous "Jury"s
Irish Cabaret". From that moment on her career was destined to
continue in the United States. While touring extensively coast to
coast with Irish American entertainers as a solo Irish Step Dancer,
she formed her own dance company "Emerald Fire". Ms. Connolly
toured Europe with symphony orchestras, appeared as special guests
in "Mohegan Sun" and toured festivals and theaters on the East
Coast. "Emerald Fire" is fast becoming a dance company in demand for
it's ability to deliver high energy entertainment, while maintaining
the tradition of Irish Dance.
Joanna is a dedicated teacher and believer in the importance of
introducing the Arts to children of all ages and also knows that
you're never too old to learn how to Irish Step Dance.
"I'm thrilled to be a part of such an illustrious team of
instructors and share the vision that Annie and Dan have for your
children."
