Brittany Voss is a singer/composer from Florida. She began her
musical studies at the age of 3 with piano lessons. At the age of
5, she composed her first opera. She went on to excel in her
musical studies throughout school, mastering several instruments
including piano, voice, guitar, and brass and woodwind instruments.
She also began performing in musical theater around Florida, her
credits including The Pirates of Penzance, Grease, and Hairspray. At
age 14, she began working as a singer at Walt Disney World, where
she performed for several years.
Throughout this time, she began giving private instruction and found
a love for sharing and teaching music. Her mother, also a music
teacher, encouraged and mentored Brittany until she fully formed her
own personal pedagogy which she currently employs with her students.
Her first priority is that music be fun and engaging--never boring.
Ms. Voss went on then attend the University of Miami on a music
scholarship, where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in Music
Theory and Composition. There she composed her first full length
musical, which was premiered in 2006 at Florida State University.
She also became a published musicologist at the age of 20 in the
journal Nota Bene. Brittany served for two years as the President
of the Society of Composers, Inc. Miami Chapter, where she was
fortunate enough to meet and speak with many notable composers such
as Steve Reich, Philip Glass, and John Corigliano. She has won
several awards for modern and electronic compositions, and continues
to strive to push the envelope of modern music. In addition to
classical and pop compositions, Brittany has scored several
independent films which have been shown in film festivals around the
country. She also gained experience in music production as the lead
singer/songwriter of The Gondoliers, a Miami-based indie/electronica
band.
Brittany teaches all ages, styles and levels in voice, piano,
guitar, brass and woodwind instruments.
